The PAC VCL CommKit Host Interface product is a combination of aninterface board and software which enables Sun(TM) systems to connectdirectly to any AT&T Virtual Circuit Switch (VCS) network, based oneither BNS-2 or Datakit II VCS hardware. Version 3.4 supports SunSBus SPARC(TM) systems running under Solaris(R) 2.4 or 2.3. The productprovides configuration alternatives which operate under any SPARC 4C, 4D,or 4M architecture system that has an available SBus slot.BenefitsThe VCL CommKit Host interface offers high-speed, true multiplexed datatransfer between the VCS network and the host Sun(TM) system via a fiberoptic link. Terminal-to-host or host-to-host sessions can proceed overthe same multiplexed link. Typical applications include wide-areainterconnection of existing LANs, remote resource sharing and pooling,and file transfer.Specific services supported include:-Remote logins and remote host pre-authorizations-Remote job execution-Remote file sharing-Remote peripheral sharing, including printers and modems-Extension of the logical network through an enhanced server table
